Raymond E. Gantt

Utica - A funeral service for Raymond E. Gantt, 86 of Utica, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Law-Baker Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.

Raymond died February 1, 2012 at Newark Healthcare Centre. He was born July 26, 1925, in Knox County to the late Alfred L. and Carrie (Day) Gantt.

He was a member of Utica United Methodist Church. Ray retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas after nearly 42 years. He graduated from Centerburg High School, was a member of Owens Corning Camping Club and an advisor for Newton Jr. Farmers 4H Club.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Ruth Adams Gantt of Utica; sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip D. and Janet Gantt of Gambier, David M. and Laura Gantt of Granville, Steven A. and Trina Gantt of Newark; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda J. and Jerry Parrill of Utica; granddaughters, Jennifer (David) Adams, Carrie Gantt; great-granddaughter, Juniper Adams; brothers, Robert D. Gantt of Knoxville, TN, Wayne and Betty Gantt of Batavia, NY, Vaughn and Georgena Gantt of Oakland, TN.

He is preceded in death by by his wife of 49 1/2 years, Virginia J. (Warthen) Gantt who passed away July 5, 1996; brother, Glenn Gantt; sister, Grace Simmons

Friends may call 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, February 3.2012 at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N Main St., Utica.
