Reverend John A. 'Jack' Clouston

On November 6 ^th , 2017, after a devoted life of service to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Rev. John A. "Jack" Clouston, left his temporary home to meet Jesus face to face.

Jack was born in McDonald, Pennsylvania, January 4 ^th , 1929, to Charles and Mary Clouston.

On June 17 ^th , 1948, he married the love of his life, Nellie Beard. Together, they made a home, raised three boys, and early on in the marriage, faced the decision of Jack leaving the field of Art Advertising to become a Methodist Minister, to serve the East Ohio Conference United Methodist Church. Having served the Lord together for more than four decades, they never had reason to regret their decision.

Prior to his time in the ministry, Jack was a freelance commercial artist for Coleman/Todd & Associates of Mansfield, Ohio. His unfailing love for the Lord was closely followed by a love of painting with oils; many of his paintings are spiritual in nature, depicting Jesus in different Biblical accounts. Many of his paintings won Top Honors at competitions he entered.

And, somewhere between God and painting, Jack developed a deep love for people, not just the lost, but for everyone. During the week he called on homes God would lead him to, never knowing who he'd meet or how they would receive him. His sense of urgency to reach people for God was ever-present, and as strong in his final days as it was throughout his ministry. In short, Jack loved on people as God's hands extended.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Clouston, a brother, Charles (Chuck) Clouston, and a sister, Arvilla Brinkman.

Jack is survived by his wife of 69 years, Nellie I. "Nell" (Beard) Clouston. His three sons, David Clouston of Columbus; Craig (Daughter-in-love Nancy) Clouston of Brinkhaven, and J. Scott Clouston of Newark. Daughter-in-love Rose Ryan of Reynoldsburg. Grandchildren; Eric Clouston, Lindsay (Corey) Alton, and Julie (Tersh) Blissett. Great Grandchildren; IV Blissett, Aaron Caplinger, Memphis & Addalyn Blissett, Jozlyn Alton, and though Jack didn't get to meet him here, he knew Joshua Alton is on his way!

In consideration of the thousands of parishioners, friends and extended family who loved Jack and Nell, there was a private grave-side service, attended by immediate family on Sunday, November 12 ^th , 2017, in the Brandon United Methodist Cemetery.
