Robert J. (Bob) Biggs

November 10, 1929 – September 29, 2018

A private graveside service for Robert J. (Bob) Biggs, 88, of St. Louisville will be at Eden Cemetery with Pastor Jason Snyder officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Licking Co. Veterans Alliance.

Mr. Biggs went to the Lord on September 29, 2018 at the Selma Markowitz Center, Newark after a long battle with bladder and bone cancer. He was born on November 10, 1929 on his grandmother's farm in Knox County to the late Harold and Pearl (Ross) Biggs.

Bob lived most of his adult life in Licking county. He said he was ready for heaven since he had already been to hell in the hills of Korea where he was wounded on October, 1951 near Tumsong, North Korea. He was proud to have served his country after his father in World War I, brothers in World War II and younger brother, Russ, in Korea. All four of his brothers-in law served in World War II.

Bob was an organ donor and said they had been good to him all these years and hoped that they would make someone elses life more enjoyable.

He graduated from Utica High School in 1948 and to further his interest in real estate he attended cram courses in ENL Domain, University of Georgia, farm management and rural appraising at Purdue University and capitalization at University of Chicago.

Bob was a real estate broker and licensed appraiser, past president of the Columbus chapter of American Society of Appraisers, past president of Utica Dinner Club, UTK Club, Athletic Boosters and Commander of the American Legion. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge over 50 years.

He retired from ODOT in 1988 after servicing about 30 years as a review appraiser in the real estate section.

He married his high school sweetheart in 1951 and lived in Utica for about 20 years, owned Bob & Betty's Restaurant and the Four Pines Inn. They moved to their farm in Eden Township in 1978 where Jerry McClain built their dream home where they presently live. He always loved the peace and quiet of the country and enjoyed walking the trails through the woods with his faithful dog, Titan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty A. (Wince) Biggs; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Donna (Shaffer) Biggs of Utica; granddaughter, Dr. Ariel J. Biggs and her husband, Julian Ybarra of Galloway; grandson, Dr. Austin J. Biggs of Clintonville; brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Ruth Biggs of Mt. Vernon; sister, Lu Bone of Monroe; sister-in-law, Nancy (Wince) Davis and her husband, Larry.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gerald Biggs; sisters, Mary Frye, Hazel Scott, Lucy Parker and Perma Rice.
