A graveside service for Robert G. Rice, 86 of Utica, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2015, at South Lawn Cemetery.
Robert died February 1, 2015 at Selma Markowitz Care Center/LMH, Newark. He was born March 5, 1928, in Homer to the late Ira and Oma (VanWey) Rice.
Robert lived in the Utica/Homer area all his life. He retired from Owens Corning in 1990, owned the shoe repair shop in Utica and worked for several other businesses in Utica. He graduated from the Newark College of Columbus.
He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Robbi L. Rice of Mount Vernon, Teresa and Jeff Hardesty of Martinsburg; four grandsons, Paul (Jessi), Jared, Bradley and Lane Hardesty; one great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Linda Combs of Columbus, Nickie Caroon of Utica.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Perma J. (Ritter) Rice; brothers, Keith, Seril (Tom), Ross and Wayne Rice; sisters, Marie Edwards, Helen Davis and Ruth Folk.
