A Mass of Christian Burial for Rose Ann Gorius, 75, of Utica, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 18, 2016 at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 66 Granville St., Newark with Reverend Edward Keck as celebrant and Reverend JCP Sullivan and Reverend Vincent Nguyen as concelebrants. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Newark.
Friends may call 4:30-7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N Main St., Utica where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
Rose passed away July 13, 2016 at Selma Markowitz Care Center, Newark. She was born June 23, 1941, in Filbert, PA to the late John A. and Mary B. (Burless) Vacha.
She was a very active member of the Church of the Nativity, Utica and the Director of Religious Education for many years. She was a homemaker and retired as an Administrative Secretary for FMHA, Mt. Vernon. Rose enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as shopping and lived by the motto "eat dessert first".
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Daniel Gorius; five children, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; Louis (Raeshawn) Gorius and their children, Tristan, Ashleigh (Trenton) Brown and their daughter, Emerie, Kalee and her son, Zayne; Audra (Bruce) Brothers and their daughters, Alexis and Madelynne; Deborah (James) Stevens and their sons, Nathaniel and Tyler; Michele Gorius: Kimberly (Rick) Gorius-Zies and their sons, Rylan, Kyle and Craig and step-daughters, Kaila and Sarah; sisters, Helen (Joe) Kochis, Marie (George) Bohna; sisters-in-law, Catherine Vacha, Dorothy Vacha; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family, many church and community friends.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, John, Joe and Frank (Jean) Vacha; sister Thelma (Frank) Persichitti.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a church or charity of your choice.
