Sarah M. Kaiser

August 13, 1935-August 16, 2021

A funeral service for Sarah M. Kaiser, 86 of Mt. Vernon will be held at 2pm on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica with Rev. Marvin Haught officiating. Burial will follow at Owl Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the funeral home.

In the comfort of her home, on August 16th at 3:24AM Sarah Margaret Kaiser was granted her heart's desire, to be with Jesus. Sarah was born August 13th, 1935 to Finley Tanner and Goldie Pearl (Rice) Fry. She graduated at the age of 16 from Mercerville high school, where she ran track, was a cheerleader and the class salutatorian. After graduation she traveled to Colorado to be with her older sister Dorothy, where she worked for the telephone company. In 1955 Sarah enlisted in the Marine Reserves and was honorably discharged on August 22, 1957 the day before she married her one true love, Clarence A. Kaiser.

The young couple spent the early days of their marriage in Hilliard, Ohio. In 1959, just after the flood they (along with Clarence M. and Helen M. Kaiser) moved to southern Knox County. On the family farm, Sarah and Clarence provided a beautiful example of what marriage should look like (for 58 years) as they raised their four children; Tim (Allison), Judy (Larry) Williams, Mary (James) Jordan, William (Vickie) and loved their many grandchildren; Jessica (Nick) Cockrell, Ashley Williams (Trent Gilmore), Jamee (Anthony Borders) and Pierce Jordan, Cheyenne (Joe) Watson, Dakota Kaiser, Cherokee (Phillip) Caughran, Shawnee, Chenoa, Hunter & Liam Kaiser, Bethany Faith Wittman, and Great Grandchildren; Cody, Brody & Bentley Cockrell, Tara, Damian & Theo Caughran; and Iyla Grace whom Sarah longed to hold.

Sarah began working at Wee's in 1980 and retired from Neff's in 2012 after being diagnosed with Lymphoma. Sarah was a member of the Morgan Grange for more than 53 years and Pleasant Neighbors craft club. Sarah was a bookworm. She enjoyed crafting, knitting and loved crocheting blankets and stuffed toys which brought comfort and joy to many locally and across the world. Sarah loved packing her animals into Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. Sarah worshiped at the Brandon Baptist Church where she made great friends. Sarah was gentle, kindhearted and always put others needs ahead of herself. Our beautiful mother, grandmother, mother in love, aunt, sister, neighbor, friend will be missed greatly, but we take comfort knowing she is in heaven with her Savior Jesus Christ, and reunited with her husband Clarence, son Mark, grandson Matthew, her sisters and many other loved ones. We know that Sarah's faith has brought her to victory.
