Sheldon R. Walker, age 66, of Utica sadly passed away on May 15, 2024, at his childhood residence.

Sheldon was born on December 22, 1957, to Homer M. and Deloris Jean Walker, in Richwood, WV.

Sheldon had an inseparable bond with his father that was forged over the years working side-by-side on projects big and small. From an early age he was drawn to his dad's workshop. As he grew older, their shared love of tools became the cornerstone of their relationship- a special bond that transcended words. It was in the garage he began his lifetime love and passion for Snap-on and MAC Tools.

Sheldon spent most of his working years at Buckeye Truck Equipment working as a welder/fabricator. He spent decades working as a mechanic, fixing cars and trucks. He spent countless hours listening to music and tinkering away in various garages in the area, such as Smitty's Body Shop in Johnstown and Penley's Garage in Fallsburg.  From these garages he developed lifelong friendships with Loni Richardson, Carl Tilley and many countless others.

Sheldon's somber demeanor had a comforting presence. His calm and gentle nature often didn't match his giant like appearance.  He was always there to lend an ear and offer support, even if he may not always express it with enthusiasm. Sheldon despite his most recent years continued to have a heart of gold and was always willing to help others, even when he was not feeling his best.

Sheldon was the oldest of his six brothers and enjoyed listening to the local emergency service scanner, watching mud runs and stock car racing. He was loved by everyone and never met a stranger. He shared a special mother like bond with his Aunt Sharon Berry, who provided him with love, guidance, and wisdom throughout his life.  His favorite pastime in life was that of spending time with friends and family at local gatherings. When he was away from friends and family, he was always one call away and readily available to talk over the phone. He never missed a meal and always offered a helping hand.

He is survived by his mother, Deloris Jean; brothers, Johnnie Walker, Mike (Mindy) Walker, Tim ( Cindy Preston) Walker, Kevin (Frankie) Walker, Keith Walker, Kelly Walker; special friends, Lisa Meyers, Lester (Linda) Grennel; and countless nieces and nephews.

Sheldon is preceded in death by his father Homer and sister Jeanie Renae.

Friends and family may gather on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 11 - 1 PM at the Brucker-Baker Funeral Home, where his services will immediately follow at 1 PM with Pastor Ben McKinstry officiating. Burial will take place in Martinsburg Methodist Episcopal Cemetery.
