Sherry "Shirl" Linger

Johnstown - A funeral service for Sherry "Shirl" Linger, 74 of Johnstown, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 31, 2010 at Law-Baker Funeral Home with Pastor Harry Miller officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery, Utica.

Shirl died December 28, 2010 at his residence. He was born February 19, 1936, in Spencer, W.V. to the late Harley M. and Goldie E. (Carper) Linger.

Shirl retired in 1997 after 42 years of service with Tech International. He started the Tech Rubber golf league, was an avid deer hunter and a Model A enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diane C. (Davis) Linger of Johnstown; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey A. and Debbie Linger of Utica, Joseph L. and Mary Linger of Johnstown, James C. and Ralonda L. Linger of Monclova; grandchildren, Blake, Natalie, Cassie, Bethany, Alisha, Justin and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Bailee, Mackenzie and Kaylee; brothers, Delmar Linger of WV, Bill Linger of Johnstown; sisters, Mary Miller of Johnstown, Ella Bess of Uniontown, Linda Bess of Covington, VA.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Gleo, Donzel and George Linger; sisters, Evelyn and Rosie.
