Sidney James Shipley

Newark - A funeral service for Sidney James Shipley, 75 of Newark will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 5, 2010 at Highwater Congregational Church UCC with Rev. Ed Lopeman, Rev. Ron Hall and Rev. Tori Front officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery.

Sidney died March 30, 2010 at his residence. He was born March 8, 1935, in Homer, Ohio to the late James and Wave (Hoar) Shipley.

He was the co-owner of Shipley Duroc Farm with his son Randy until he retired to become an avid woodworker. He was an active member of Highwater Congregational Church UCC. Sidney was a huge supporter of 4-H in Licking County and served as director on the Hartford Fair Board for 12 years. Sid and Rosie loved kids and were honorary grandparents to many. He loved life and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rosalind A. (Woosley) Shipley of Newark, son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Sandi Shipley of Newark, daughters and sons-in-law, Ronda and Tom Wolford of Newark, Rita and Kenny Shultz of Battle Ground, IN, grandchildren, Scott Wolford and Ashley, Matt and Jen Wolford, Jason Shipley (deceased), Bryan and Andrea Wolford, Josie and Rick Snyder, Jessica Wolford, Kyle Shultz, Jeff Shultz, Anna Shultz, great-grandchildren, Isabella, Bo and Allison Wolford, Jacey Snyder, brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Donna Shipley of Newark, sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and John Tulloss of Utica; several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janet Neal.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Highwater Congregational Church UCC, Building Fund, 1213 Dutch Lane Rd. NW, Newark, OH 43055.

Friends may call Saturday, April 3, 5:00-9:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at Highwater Congregational Church UCC.
