Sue C. Helphrey

Calling hours for Sue C. Helphrey, 83 of Utica will be held 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica. A private graveside service will be held at South Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Helphrey passed away October 29, 2018 at Country Court, Mt. Vernon. She was born June 18, 1935 in Napoleon to the late Don and Vera (Johnson) Shockey.

Sue was a retired teacher at the North Fork Schools, a member of Utica Church of Christ and the Saturday Review Club. She was a Red Cross volunteer for the Utica Blood Drives and loved reading, gardening, birds and cooking.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie Helphrey; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel A. and Marianne Helphrey III; granddaughters, Erin (Michael) Cochran, Katie (fiance, Dan Wajnryb) Helphrey all of Utica; three great-grandchildren, Kirsten, Jesse and Xander Cochran of Mt. Vernon; cousin, Molly (Jim) Crawford of Napoleon; sister-in-law, Kay Pargeon of Utica; many nieces and nephews.

Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel A. Helphrey, Jr.
