THOMAS LEE HARTFIELD
March 14, 1931-March 25, 2018
A funeral service for Thomas Lee Hartfield, 87, of Utica, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Utica Church of Christ, 115 N. Central Ave. with Ministers Darin Pratt and Alan Pratt officiating. Burial will follow in Owl Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 2:00-400 and 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2018 at the church.
Tom passed away on Sunday, March 25th, in Los Angeles, California, at his son's home, with Bette Rae, his wife of nearly sixty years, and family by his side. Tom, with Bette Rae leading the charge, fought a long, courageous battle against a myriad of health issues and was at peace, when he took his last breath.
Tom was born in Newark, Ohio, on March 14, 1931 to the late Broadis Thomas Hartfield and Eunice Wilson Ridinger. He graduated from Homer High School in 1950 and proceeded to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. A pipe fitter by trade, Tom was a member of Local 189 in Columbus, Ohio, until his retirement in 1993. Tom was also a member of the Utica Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon.
Tom is survived by his wife, Bette Rae; sons, John and Joe (Nimai); grand-daughters, Christine and Jordyn; sisters, Eula Mae Kenney and Sandy Oettinger; sister-in-law, Phyllis Justice; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and caregivers; extended family Bill Gordean and Claudine Curtis.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Steve and Ronnie.
