Obituary

Virginia "Ginny" Baker, 97 of Newark passed away on September 2, 2024. She was born on December 28, 1926 in Charleston, WV.

Ginny was a 60 year member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church where she served on the bereavement committee for many years. She worked for Sears Roebuck in Wheeling, WV, Newark and Heath. She also sold real estate for many years. She volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store. She enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Bunkhouse Reelers. Most of all she loved her family.

She is survived by her children, Bill (Vicki) Baker III, Marlene (Reg) Pitt, Jenell (John) DeVaul, Dave (Michele) Baker, Tom (Margo) Baker and Lisa (Doug) Dockus; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; sister, Peach (Raymond) Doughty; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 78 years, William E. Baker, Jr. who she vowed to take care of after his debilitating stroke in 2018 until his death on July 3, 2024; and 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Private family services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Brucker-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
