William E. Baker, Jr. 97 of Newark passed away on July 3, 2024. He was born on October 2, 1926 in Martins Ferry, OH to the late William E. and Marie Teresa (Cox) Baker, Sr.
Bill was a longtime member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He taught machine shop from 1962-1964 at Heath Vocational School. He retired from Rockwell International as a tool and die maker. He was an avid bowler, golfer and sports fan. He enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Bunkhouse Reelers. Most of all he loved his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 78 years, Virginia "Ginny" (Mills) Baker; children, Bill (Vicki) Baker III, Marlene (Reg) Pitt, Jenell (John) DeVaul, Dave (Michele) Baker, Tom (Margo) Baker and Lisa (Doug) Dockus; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Darrah.
Private family services will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Brucker-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 20 N. 4th St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935.
